Research Interests and Specialties:
Public management, organizational behavior and theory
Dr. Smith earned a Ph.D. in Public Administration and Policy from the University at Albany, State University of New York. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from James Madison University and a Master of Public Administration from the University at Albany.
Dr. Smith’s current research focuses on social networks and their impact on regulatory settings. In addition to her interest in social networks, Smith is engaged in ongoing projects examining the tools and techniques used by instructors in teaching statistics to practitioners and data analysis activities in government and non-profit organizations.
Dr. Smith is co-author of articles appearing in the Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory and Economics of Innovation and New Technology. In addition, she has presented her work at numerous conferences including the Academy of Management Annual Meeting (AOM), the Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management Conference (APPAM), the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration Conference (NASPAA), the Public Management Research Association Conference (PMRAC), and the System Dynamics Society Conference (SDS). Dr. Smith has also contributed to several research projects for various New York State agencies.
